Ahead of its 15th edition in 2022, the Headies Awards has introduced 6 new categories to reward excellence.
On Tuesday, March 1, 2022 The Headies Awards organizers had made a special announcement regarding the overall rebranding of the award ceremony itself. One of such announcements was the introduction of 6 new award categories.
The growth of Afrobeat to other parts of the world cannot be overemphasized. The award ceremony organizers introduced 6 new categories to appreciate those that have played a crucial role in making this feat happen.

- Best Afrobeat Pop Single
- Best Afrobeat Pop Album
- Music Exec. Of The Year
- Best African Collaboration
- African Artist Of The Year
- International Artiste Of The Year
The event itself will be held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Atlanta, Georgia, the USA, on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
