Veteran Nigerian singer, Sound Sultan has just been announced dead with a press released put out by his family this morning.
The singer died on the morning of Sunday, the 11th of July 2021. His brother, Kayode Fasasi announced that Sound Sultan is dead with a press release. The singer was 44 years of at the time of his death and had a long battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma. The family also pleaded for utmost privacy as they deal with this tragic loss. The press statement read;
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of multitalented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter, Olanrewaju Fasasi a.k.a Sound Sultan. He passed away at the age of 44 following a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma. He is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings. We his family will appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss.”
Fans waking up to the news this morning will definitely remember just recently when the singer was allegedly diagnosed with throat cancer. Before Sound Sultan was reported dead this morning, he had been in the news in May. The singer was reported to have been diagnosed with throat cancer. However, his team came out and debunked the rumors. Sound Sultan also came out to say when it’s time to tell his story, it will be true and not false.
Sound Sultan is one of the pioneers of the current Nigerian sound we enjoy, having worked with virtually all the musicians in the music scene, new and old. He has a career total of 7 studio albums and he will definitely be remembered for classic songs like ‘Mathematics’, ‘Area’, and ‘Kokose’ with Wizkid.
